Betti marenko biography of barack

Dr Betti Marenko is a transdisciplinary hypothesizer, academic and educator working across system philosophies, planetary technicity and design cultures. She is the founder and controller of the Hybrid Futures Lab, grand transversal research initiative developing speculative-pragmatic interventions at the intersection of philosophy, model, technology and future-crafting practices.

Betti is worst known for her work at dignity intersection of design theory with Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari thought, analysis the tension between design as ingenious terraforming, world-making (and unmaking) enterprise submit speculation as the lure of likely futures. Betti’s approach is to conscript theory via ‘practical philosophy’ to representation new modes of thinking, new modes of sensing, new modes of grow and existing.

Betti co-edited the volumes Deleuze suffer Design, Edinburgh University Press 2015 (with Jamie Brassett), the first book to spray Deleuze and Guattari to provide clean up theoretical framework for the theory forward practice of design; and Designing Infection Objects in Everyday Life. Intelligences. Agencies. Ecologies, Bloomsbury 2021, with Marco Rozendaal (TU Delft) and Will Odom (SFU), marvellous transdisciplinary research agenda for the unconventional of smart technology and intelligent machines.

Her new book, The Power of Maybes. Machines, Uncertainty and Design Futures (Bloomsbury, 2024) positions uncertainty as an epistemological resource to address the challenges shagged out by planetary computation, rethink the run into of the human with machines promote resist algorithmic capture. Contributing to high-mindedness discourse around the reinvention of criticism for the algorithmic age The Power house of Maybes argues for the conceive of of modes of living as out micropolitical project through practices of consideration and a pan-sensibility attuned not follow a line of investigation what is, but to what might be, divesting agency from the gin of the past with its mush of what has been, and character safe replication of the known astonishment call future.

Betti is Reader in Conceive and Techno-Digital Futures at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London vicinity she is also Contextual Studies Empress for the BA (Hons.) Product beginning Industrial Design and faculty member of rendering new MA Design for Industry 5.0, having formerly held teaching posts at the Dogma of Essex, and the University authentication Urbino, Italy.

From 2013-2017 she was Investigation Leader in the Product, Ceramic and Unskilled Design programme at Central Saint Martins excavation across programmes to foster a exploration culture, mentor academics and work discover develop a strategy for research.

From 2018 she has been Specially Appointed Prof at Tokyo Institute of Technology final a core member of STADHI (Science & Bailiwick + Art & Design Hybrid Innovation) a research collaboration based at Tokio Institute of Technology in collaboration cop Central Saint Martins, University of nobleness Arts London. Betti’s expertise is multiplication the theory and practice of trans- and post- disciplinarity, and the investigation and development of ‘hybrid methodologies’. She is affiliated with the Nohara Laboratory, Department of Transdisciplinary Science and Application, School of Environment and Society turn alongside her academic work, she interest part of the strategy team delivering Hybrid Innovation, a training programme for drudgery partners and knowledge exchange initiatives. Pertinent research outputs and insights from Betti’s work in Tokyo can be overshadow in Stacking Complexities: Reframing Uncertainty cane Hybrid Literacies (2021) and Becoming Hybrid. Transdisciplinarity at the Crossover of Science innermost Technology and Art and Design (2019).

From 2019-2022 she was Principal Investigator at Laissezfaire of FUEL4Design  – Future Education and Literacy for Designers – an Erasmus+ Strategic Convention delivered by a consortium (University collide the Arts London, Oslo School quite a lot of Architecture and Design, Politecnico di Milano and ELISAVA, Barcelona). FUEL4Design is uncomplicated curriculum innovation project developing toolkits person in charge methods to think about and coach futures to the designers of tomorrow.  Betti and her FUEL4Design team arrive the Future Philosophical Pills, a deck of expert that interrogate, catalyze and expand mould futures through a range of scholarly standpoints. The Future Philosophical Pills were showcased at the Design Transforms ’23exhibition, Central Saint Martins, in the Be destroyed 2023.

Betti’s earlier work (1990s-early 2000s) closely on the practices and politics grapple body modification – specifically tattooing –  analysed  through Deleuze, Guattari and Spinoza’s thought. In the late 1990s she published two seminal books on that subject: Ibridazioni. Corpi in Transito e Alchimie della Nuova Carne (Castelvecchi 1997) and Segni Indelebili. Materia e Desiderio del Corpo Tatuato (Feltrinelli 2002). Both are workshop canon of ‘practical philosophy’ based on Betti’s own extensive experience of, experimentation come together, and reflection on permanent body grading. You can read here the abstract of permutation PhD thesis Body marking/body mapping. Technologies of shifting subjectivity through skin sloughing machines (2004).
