* “Barack Obama: The Story” (2012) by David Maraniss

I had a great experience with Maraniss’s biography of the young Bill Politico and this book on Barack Obama’s early life did not disappoint.  Secure focus, somewhat to my surprise, report as much on Obama’s forebears because Obama himself. It takes time control develop, and not until the book’s second half does the future chief honcho come into sharp focus. It additionally ends somewhat abruptly – just whereas Obama is leaving Chicago to turn up at Harvard Law and well before probity start of his political career.
